Really it’s just an excuse to go shopping
Welcome to my first blog post. If it’s five years into the future and this post is referenced as a blueprint for running a successful home business, marvel one-and-all this is where it all began. I could use that blueprint right now as I’m just at the start of running my online store “Primp & Style” and all I have is an idea and determination to make it work.
I turned my back on my previous career in animation or rather it turned it’s back on me because of it’s contract nature which no longer suited my growing family. Because of that I’ve long been considering opening my own business. Given my love of baking and home-making, something in that vein may have been the obvious choice but really I looked at where I’ve been happiest job wise over the years, it would most definitely be working in fashion.
Over the years my style has most certainly evolved and where I am now, I want comfort but I still want to look good. Think jersey, blazers and cool accessories and you get the idea of what Primp and Style is all about. I’ve become an avid reader of fashion blogs and have a slight addiction to Pinterest. I often wish I could buy the look only to find it’s completely unattainable, leaving me with a serious case of style and bank account envy. I thought what if I could sell that style? Would people be interested?
Fleshing out my idea was the fun part. I began looking for suppliers, researching how an online business works, and of course my favourite part of the research was buying samples. It was about now that my husband cottoned on to the fact that really I was just shopping, something that became even more evident when I began wearing the samples. I called it quality control and testing.
One of the big deciding factors in going ahead with this idea was something I’ve observed of late, I do most of my shopping online, usually one handed on my phone. That’s just the way things are now being a mother to two young boys, I have very little time and zero patience. I need shopping to be easy and stress free, and if a site doesn’t have a mobile version it’s lost me. This is where a very talented web developer sat down with me and began to create a vision, my vision with a huge amount of brilliance on his part thrown in.
So here I am, or rather here Primp & Style is. I hope you enjoy what the store has to offer and my occasional musings about life and style.
Thanks for joining me on my first blog post,
